Surrender for your sanity
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
I am grateful for the sign of the title alone for today’s messages: “Surrender and Rest”. The message says, “When we are faced with a problem our first instinct is to grab it and not let it go…. It creates anxiety and lets fear flourish.… The attitude that God wants us to have toward our problems is one of bravery. He asks us to choose surrender over having control.” I don’t know about you, but I have to REalize that if I don’t focus on a matter, it’s not that I don’t care, but it is me surrendering. I am known to feel bad for not BEing able to figure something out or not have a plan. But that’s exactly when I must let go and leave things in God’s hand. Surrender for your sanity.
REflection from When Life Gets Hard: Smile
Today’s devotional from Rosenkranz is titled “Try Again”. This morning 1 Kings 19:15 is highlighted which says, “The Lord said to [Elijah], 'Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get there…'". As Rosenkranz states,I'm sure Elijah had no desire to go back where he'd been. After all, he had just walked through this dry desert, where he'd collapsed and wanted to die! (see 1 Kings 19:4).” Who wants to REturn to a place that once caused hurt, harm, danger, despair, frustration, heartbreak and the like? No one willingly. Yet as today’s message shows us sometimes God has a new mission for us, and as stated, “sometimes that’s the recipe for success”. It’s time to try something again, but listen and obey, for the Father has you in His hands. Keep going forward and obey His plan.

Surrender for your sanity, my friend.
