Work in wisdom in the Word of God

What People Say

Today’s message begins with a spanish proverb which says, “If three people say you are an ass, put on a bridle.” Kundtz continues by adding, “The proverb seems to say there's wisdom in what people say of me, and I should listen to it, especially if several say the same thing.” Now when I first read the proverb, I could feel my defense building up, but as I finished reading the message, I thought that what people say may not necessarily be negative. As a child we heard, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”. Yet words do hurt. However, I have come to realize that I hear less negative thoughts as an adult and more compliments and affirmations of who I am and what I do. Let us remember that what people say is a reflection of what we do and who we are. Therefore, be cognizant of what you are displaying.

I’ve lifted up this scripture before, but I believe it fits with today’s message. Colossians 3:23-24 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Let us always be a reflection of the Lord for we are made in His image, and the work we do is ordered by Him and so are our steps.

Small Straws Scripture: Ephesians 4:32

And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

If we cannot be anything else or do anything else, we can always be kind, caring, and understanding of others.

Youversion Verse of the Day 1 John 4:4

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

There is nothing we cannot do, nothing we cannot be, nothing we cannot overcome as children of the Most High God.
