Grace and peace BE unto us each day
“‘A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.’” John 13:34
Each devotional in “Daily Strength for Women” has questions to REflect on each day. With today’s message “Love One Another” the question is posed: “Do you think the Scriptures would repeat the importance of loving people if it were easy?” John 13:34 is highlighted today which says, “‘A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.’” As I go about my own life and work to support others and especially students, I’m always REminded of the saying, “if (fill in the blank) were that easy, everyone would be doing it.”. The same goes with today’s message; if it were that easy to love everyone, God wouldn’t have made it a commandment. He understands that we are of flesh and there are things that we must BE REminded of to work at, and loving our enemies as ourselves is one. We definitely don’t have to BE in love with others, but let us love them with the love of our Lord, for He is love.

This morning’s message from “CLT ALT Delete: Resetting our Heartware” speaks to “The Wonder of Grace”. It is mentioned that Philip Yancey’s book “What’s So Amazing About Grace?” says, “Grace teaches us that God loves because of who God is, not because of who we are.” Hope Singapore goes on to say, “God does not excuse sin but treasures the sinner. The abundant grace of God is available to all, regardless of what we have done. Just as Judah could not do anything to earn a relationship with God, likewise, there is nothing we can do to deserve this precious gift of a relationship with God.“ Let us strive to do what is pleasing to God, yet when we may fall short, REmember God’s grace and allow ourselves to give ourselves the same.
