REassurance, REstoration and REtribution are upon you
“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.” Colossians 4:5 NIV
In Osteen’s message this morning, he says, “Time is one of the most valuable commodities we have…. We have a responsibility to use our time wisely.… Just like you spend money, you are spending your life. You're either investing it or you're wasting it.” Everything we do is a choice. Life has BEen very taxing on me over the last week. My children have BEen with me and I desire to spend as much time as possible with them, but my REsponsibilities for work have had me up and down the road and away from them more than I have liked. Yet a text message I REceived this morning from a colleague brought me to tears. The individual spoke of meeting my daughter a few days ago on campus and knowing firsthand how important it is for us to BE our children’s role model. Part of the message said, “I think you are doing great work and I am inspired by your relentless energy and optimism. Thank you for being a role model to us all.” This has given me a perspective and confirmation that I needed. Oftentimes I wonder (when I shouldn’t) am I doing the will of God and what I should with my time and talent. This morning’s devotional and that unexpected message was just the sign from God in His perfect timing to provide me with my answer.
Isaiah 34
Let us never worry about what may come against us, for Isaiah 34:8, 16, and 17 states, “For the Lord has a day of vengeance, a year of retribution…not one will lack… He will allot our portions; his hand distributes them by measure, and we will possess it forever and dwell there from generation to generation.”
REflection from Promises for Your Everyday Life
This morning we are encouraged to “Receive the Holy Spirit and the Power to Forgive”. Meyer says in her text, “God wants us to live lives of forgiveness. We all must willingly choose to obey God and forgive any offense.” However, she goes on to say, “This is often easier said than done, but God doesn't expect you to do it on your own…. He wants to fill you with the Holy Spirit and enable you to forgive, but you have to ask and receive Him.” Just REmember Psalm 46:10 and 11, and BE still and know that He is God and He is with you. In His perfect timing He will move within you to forgive. All things take time.
