Go be great
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8
We are encouraged this morning to “Meditate on Goodness”. The devotional says, “Do you ever catch yourself dwelling on the negative aspects of life? We can be nonchalant when someone tells us good news, but talk for hours about conflict, worries, and disappointment…. Think of what dwelling on the negative actually does: it creates feelings of hopelessness, discouragement, and a lack of trust in our God who is good, true, and just.“
My word for the year in 2019 was perspective. I worked continuously to focus on the positive. Even when difficulties would arise, I reminded myself that God works everything for my good. Then again this summer, as I took time for myself and to vacation, I worked to renew my mind and focus, reflecting on all things that have happened in the past four years of my life, that I know was not possible without God; I smile even now. Today’s reminder is found in Philippians 4:8. “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Focus on good thoughts—God thoughts today and each day.
Reflection from SoulSister: Renewing Your Mind Through the Word of God
The last message from the series “SoulSister: Renewing Your Mind Through the Word of God” is titled “Feeling Stuck”. It compares our dreams, visions, and assignments to a car stick in mud, and the Holy Spirit to a tow truck. It says, “The dreams, visions, and assignments on our lives are too heavy to be picked up. They are even too heavy to be pushed by man. They must be pulled out by a power greater than man…. When we call on the Holy Spirit inside of us, the power of the Holy Spirit comes and pulls on those assignments and dreams. He pulls them through the hard places and the deep places in our lives.” This is a reminder that is so much greatness in each of us, but sometimes we have to go T.H.R.O.U.G.H. (Trials, Hurt, Regrets, Obstacles, Uncertainty, Guilt, Heartbreak) to get to our breakthrough. But no matter the situation, our God us there to pull us through.
James 1:22-24
Let there be no hesitation or reservations when it comes to determining what to do in life. If it’s from God or written in His word, just do it.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
