I Know What You Mean

After reading this morning’s message from Kundtz, I googled “empathy vs. sympathy vs. compassion”. AI generated the following response; “Empathy involves understanding and sharing the feelings of another person, often involving emotional resonance and a willingness to connect with their experience. Sympathy is a feeling of pity or sorrow for someone else's suffering, without necessarily sharing their feelings.Compassion combines empathy and sympathy with a desire to relieve suffering and actively help.” Many times when we are engaged with someone who has experienced some type of suffering or loss, as highlighted by Kundtz, we tend to automatically react saying, “I know what you mean” even though we haven’t experienced a similar situation. Kundtz encourages us to take a pause. “It's the pause the still, reflective moment— that allows the recollection, the contemplation, the truth of the moment to open. Those words—I know what you mean—can be a very sharp knife indeed.” When we can’t empathize, let us sympathize or show some compassion as Christ does with us in all trying situations.

Lamentations 3:20 provides comfort expressing, “But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in him.’”

‭‭Small Straw Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

He will never lead us astray from His will and His way for our lives.

Youversion Verse of the Day: 1 Corinthians 16:13

Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong.

Always lead with your focus on Christ, standing boldly in authority, for He is our rock.

Let us stay focused on being the best that we can be, for we were created in His image; it’s our destiny, my friend.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
