May we plan to rest, do His will, and act according to His Word, for that is the rhythm of the business with Christ
National Stopping Day
Kundtz encourages us this morning to consider if there was imposed a National Stopping Day. He says, “Just imagine: One day of the year during which no one would work. Everyone would say only what's necessary and do nothing in general but be silent and relax. And for performers of essential services there'd be an alternative Stopping Day; the rest of us would spell them…. Just imagine how we would all feel the day after!” Let’s not just imagine or wish for this day, let’s work to creat this day or days throughout our lives to rest.
Jeremiah 17:21-22 and 24-26 reads, “Thus says the Lord: For the sake of your lives, take care that you do not bear a burden on the sabbath day or bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem. And do not carry a burden out of your houses on the sabbath or do any work, but keep the sabbath day holy, as I commanded your ancestors…. But if you listen to me, says the Lord, and bring in no burden by the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but keep the sabbath day holy and do no work on it, then there shall enter by the gates of this city kings who sit on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their officials, the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city shall be inhabited forever. And people shall come from the towns of Judah and the places around Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, from the Shephelah, from the hill country, and from the Negeb, bringing burnt offerings and sacrifices, grain offerings and frankincense, and bringing thank offerings to the house of the Lord.” As with our youth pastor’s message yesterday, “A Reminder to Rest” he emphasized us: (1) rest is required. (2) Rest is something we must be reminded of—it’s a rhythm. (3) Rest is about your stewardship, for we all have work to do than we have already done.
Small Straws Scripture: Luke 6:31
And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.
We know this act as the “Golden Rule”. Let us all be mindful of how we treat one another, for what we do will come back to me and you.
Youversion Verse of the Day: 1 Timothy 4:12
Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
It doesn’t matter our age or experience when it comes to Christ. Let us be adamant about sharing in and doing of the Word so that others may come to know Him and/or gain a better understanding of Him.
May we plan to rest, do His will, and act according to His Word, for that is the rhythm of the business with Christ, my friend. 🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
