People play a pivotal part along our paths in life
“If you want to grow in wisdom, spend time with the wise. Walk with the wicked and you'll eventually become just like them.” Proverbs 13:20
Today’s message begins with Proverbs 13:20, which says, “If you want to grow in wisdom, spend time with the wise. Walk with the wicked and you'll eventually become just like them.” As we travel along life’s journey, let us seek to “Walk with the Wise” as today’s message is titled. The writer says, “Habits and behaviors are learned… but we should surround ourselves with those who are also walking wisely because we are bound to become more like them. Influence is powerful, and so we must purposefully decide what we will allow to influence us.” The spirit within us doesn’t lie, and we know when something isn’t right and doesn’t feel right, so don’t ignore it. As I once heard from a pastor, if you can’t change the people around you, change the people around you. We become what we see.
Reflection from 5 Daily Habits to Integrate Faith and Work
Today we are encouraged to “Appreciate Others”, as day 2 of “5 Daily Habits to Integrate Faith and Work is continued. The message says, “Our ‘stuff’ won’t travel with us to heaven. Eternal treasure isn’t about possessions; it must have something to do with the people who join us there.” It goes on saying, “But notice how important people were to Jesus all throughout the Scriptures. If we want Jesus to join us in our workplaces and our schools, we must ask him to help reprogram our minds. One way to do that is to ask God to help you appreciate the treasure in others.” Let us look at not only situations in our lives but people we encounter, and work to find the good. There is something that we can learn from all of God’s children if we open up and continue to walk like Him.
