Keeping Perspective
Kundtz shares this morning, “Losing perspective is one of the effects of being busy and stressed-we take ourselves too seriously because life has us by the throat. Quiet times alone can help you know, for example, when a comment is harmless and when it's not, when it's a joke and when it's hurtful.” I love the part about quiet time. It is important for us to steal away from situations and times that get us out of character to take time to process and reset. Simply pausing and closing our eyes, or literally walking away allows us to think, process, and prioritize if necessary, then release and reset with a renewed perspective. We are responsible for our thoughts and actions, and we must always do what is within our control to protect our peace and power. Kundtz quotes G.K. Chesterton this morning saying, “The reason angels can fly is that they take themselves so lightly”, and then he encourages us, “Look for an occasion to fly today.” Lighten your load today and release what may be holding you down mentally, physically, and/or emotionally.
Psalm 55:22 reminds us, “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” There is nothing we can’t give to the Father that He won’t help us through. Leave everything to Him and watch Him help you win.
Smallest Straws Scripture: Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.
Let us let go of those things that are not God things and focus on all the joy that He brings.
Youversion Verse of the Day: John 16:20
Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
There will be times, as with Jesus’ death, that we will weep, but let us hold tight and know that it will not last, for joy will come in due time.
