Daily Devotional for November 13, 2020
We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. Hebrews 6:12
I love the message from Joel Osteen this morning. I may make some people uncomfortable with what I’m about to say, but I’ve experienced it firsthand and know a number of others who have as well, but specifically in the Black community. As Osteen writes, “You cannot pray away every uncomfortable situation or trial.” So many people have sought (wo)man to help them through situations and the REsponse has BEen many times over, “Just pray about it.” But it is evident that faith without works is dead, and quite honestly insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different REsults. Osteen goes on to REmind us, “God allows difficulties to help us grow. . . that irritation is not God trying to make our lives miserable. It’s just that God knows there is a pearl in each of us waiting to be formed.” The only person we have control over is ourselves. I encourage you, my brother, my sister, pray about everything and allow the Spirit to shift you. In Michael Jackson’s words, we must start with the (wo)man in the mirror, and if we can’t change the people around us, then we must change the people around us. May we stand firm and know God will work everything for our good.
Exodus 17
When we cannot say a word as we travel along life’s JOurneY and trials may come on every hand, like Moses in Exodus 17, let us lift up our hands to the Lord, for He is able and willing to fight our battles and see us through even the unimaginable.
As Rachel G. Scott highlights words of Nehemiah this morning, may we also REmember, know, and BElieve like Nehemiah, “I am engaged in a great work, so I can’t come down.” And in the words of Kirk Franklin, “No matter what come my way, my life is in Your hands.” Let us keep on gaining momentum, walking by faith, for we have to go T.H.R.O.U.G.H. (Trials, Hurt, REgrets, Obstacles, Uncertainty, Guilt, Heartbreak) for our breakthrough.
Matthew 6:19
May we give freely from the heart, even if it means losing to win. 🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
Faith walk in freedom this Friday, my friend.
