Daily Devotional for November 14, 2020
We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised. Hebrews 6:12
As I REad the devotional by Joel Osteen this morning I BEgan to see and hear my dad sitting on the porch sanding a piece of wood associated with a project he was working on for somebody that REquired that it be stained. I can REcall him teaching me at a very young age, “When you sand, go with the grain and take your time and sand the wood really good. Then switch to the finer sandpaper to smooth it out. Your sanding makes or breaks its finish—the smoothness and the shine of the coating that goes on, whether paint or stain.”
Just like in the process of sanding wood. We encounter challenges that seem so coarse and rough, but as we continue to go through, our outside BEcomes what at first thought seems worn down, when in actuality we are BEing smoothed out as the harshness of the initial feeling of struggles are overridden by our mindset that is preparing us for a smooth finish and days ahead to shine. Like Osteen says, “Understand the irritation is not God trying to make our lives miserable. It’s just that God knows what’s in us waiting to be formed.”
Exodus 18
As with Moses in Exodus 18, we cannot do the will of God alone. It takes others and situations for us to persevere T.H.R.O.U.G.H. (Trials, Hurt, REgrets, Obstacles, Uncertainty, Guilt, Heartbreak) and share the burdens of life, as well as the will and the word of God.
Rachel G. Scott REminds us this morning that, “You are working on something greater than you and determining that no matter the disruption, distraction, or opposition, you must complete whatever it is that God has called you to do. You cannot move or lose your position. You must know that what you are building is far more important than your response to intimidation, negativity, lies, miscommunication, or seeming failure.” As all of the devotionals speak to this morning, challenges, trials, and situations of BEing overwhelmed will arise in this life, but we cannot allow these things to hinder us, but help us to be diligent in the work and see it through and to fruition.

Less of me and more of Thee as we do His will so His light may shine through. 🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
