As sure as we live we will fall, yet as sure as we focus on Christ we won’t stay down, for He will direct us in a new way or renewed way of life, with peace and purpose
Watersheds and Sea Changes of Life
Kundtz has spoken to us about stillpoints and stopovers, and today he discusses grinding halt. He describes a grinding halt saying, “It's an extended time that happens much less frequently, perhaps once or a few times in a lifetime, and may not be needed by everyone…. Generally, a Grinding Halt marks a significant life transition or decision, or possibly a crisis.” Another term used is watershed, which is defined as event or period marking a turning point in a course of action or state of affairs.” I recall my grinding halt that initiated in December of 2017. Though I could not just get away for an extended period of time because of responsibilities, I began to intentionally isolate myself from people and things so I could remove as much noise as possible to clearly hear guidance about where I was being led. As Kundtz writes, I too felt, “This, indeed, was a watershed moment: a dividing line that will continue to serve as a major point of transition in the course of my life.“ Moreover, “During major transitions, the influence of the spiritual is a strong, almost magnetic force, because these major changes always involve our values and meanings of life. In the course of the change we are rightly concerned that we may lose them.” However, during a watershed, we are able to clearly hear and remove doubt, and yet know and confirm God will bring us out.
Chapter 43 in Isaiah speaks to restoration and protection of promise. As researched, this chapter emphasizes God's enduring love, protection, and promise of redemption for Israel, despite their unfaithfulness. It is discovered that He is specific because He calls them by their name so there is no confusion. He encourages them not to fear, for when tough decisions have to be made, we question ourselves and many times are afraid of what others may think instead of what we know and is being confirmed for us to do. As verses 18-19 emphasize, “Do not remember the former things, or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Many times we toil with or hold on to the past, instead of focusing on God’s promises ahead, scared to remove our mask. We can’t grasp the “new things” for hiding behind what we’ve known but knowing where we need to go.
Small Straw Scripture: James 3:2a
For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.
Remember that no one is perfect and there will be times that we stumble in our walk, work, and words. Let us be able to show vulnerability for it is the perfect example of being human but the ability to fall and get back up again.
Youversion Verse of the Day: Romans 8:6
To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
Let our lives be guided by the Spirit that we will live life fully and with peace and not in pieces from the ways of the world.
As sure as we live we will fall, yet as sure as we focus on Christ we won’t stay down, for He will direct us in a new way or renewed way of life, with peace and purpose, my friend.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
