Daily Devotional for November 8, 2020
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14
Yesterday we experienced history, and in today’s vernacular, we experienced HERstory. The first woman, and the first woman of color will serve as the Vice President of the United States! We are our ancestors’ wildest dreams, and we are our children’s REality TV. Most importantly, we are heirs to the Most High King! May we all REmember that there are gifts within us all waiting to BE birthed, but we have to let go and let God. Osteen warns us this morning, “You’d better get ready. God is about to thrust you into a new level of your destiny. You cannot be contained.” God is REady to open up the floodgates and bless you. You only have to open up your mind and BE-LIeVE to REceive it.
Exodus 12
As with the Israelites in Exodus 12, God is preparing to bring us out and into what He has had in store for our lives. We have leaned unto our own understanding, and we have listened to others. However, the time has come where we are yielding to the Father so He may truly direct our thoughts, actions and deeds. My friend, you’ve prayed for it, you’ve BE-LIeVEd, now walk into your season. THIS is your EXODUS!
As I REflect this morning on what I have REceived in just these few minutes communing with the Father, I know I am walking along the JOurneY He prepared for me. I wanted to BEcome a doctor (physician) and set out to do it my way, but I had to go T.H.R.O.U.G.H. (Trials, Hurt, REgrets, Obstacles, Uncertainty, Guilt, Heartbreak) to get to my BREAKthrough He had for me—a doctor of education. There were so many years of my life I was working to survive, BEcause I was trying to do things my way—taking on the REsponsibility of BEing the head of household instead of obeying the Bible. As a REsult, I allowed work to consume me, and as with Day 3 of “Better Than Normal” says, I developed an unhealthy RElationship with it. “Just like with money, ...some people overwork themselves to the point of burnout, which may lead to serious health issues.”
That was me. Every year around this time, I would BEcome very ill, and couldn’t seem to put my finger on why. But then in 2014, while sitting at my desk, I heard God say to me just as clear: “TRUST ME.” From that moment, I turned my work over to Him. If you enter my office you will see the scripture highlighted from today from Colossians 3:23, and similar to the devotional, I have come to learn the importance of both work and REst. May we take heed to the REcommendation provided by today’s message: “No matter what our work schedules and tasks look like, let’s consider Jesus to be our employer. Yes, we should work hard to do our jobs well and honor our earthly employers. But placing Jesus at the forefront of our minds is even better because we can then honor Him by working hard and resting well.” Today is the sabbath; REst accordingly so that you may work unto Christ for your week ahead.
Matthew 28:19
Let us continue to BE the example for others to follow, drawing them closer to Christ by sharing His goodness and mercy towards us to others around us. 🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
Sit and savor the sabbath, this Sunday, my friend.
