Fear the Lord in reverence but don’t fear the Lord
“Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.” Proverbs 9:10
Proverbs 9:10 is a scripture that should be shared early in our lives. It says, “Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.” Today’s devotional “Fear or Fright” explains the misconception that many develop as youth about our Father. I too, recall hearing “fear the Lord” as if I should be afraid, when in actuality, it means to reverence and respect. The message says, “Having a fear of the Lord means we respect him. It means we are in awe of him. He is, in fact, a God of great joy. When we seek to be fully in his presence, we can find that joy.” Our Father is not one we should be afraid of, but He is one we should run to for comfort and protection, not run from in fear.
Reflection from 7 Days to Finding Rest
On this final day of “7 Days to Finding Rest” we read “It’s a promise: you will find rest!” It’s a promise found in verse 29 of the eleventh chapter of Matthew; God says, “…and you will find rest for your soul.” That’s a guarantee and the author reminds us where it is found. “ Rest has 3 dimensions. It must be found: In you, with you, and for you.” We are reminded that our worries have no power in us, God is with us, and peace is for us. Therefore embrace this trinity and rest in the Trinity.
Matthew 4:23
Let us strive to walk like Him, sharing the good news of the kingdom and what He’s done and continues to do.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
