Focus on the Father and fan the fire that is within you through the spirit
For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God. 2 Timothy 1:6-8
We must fight “The Good Fight” every day of our lives. This morning’s devotional from “Strength for Women” starts off with scripture from 2 Timothy 1:6-7 and says, “I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you... for the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline...”. God has placed something special in each one of us. We must each discover it, and not fight but join Him in the fight for His kingdom. As today’s message says, “In order to see the fullness of God's Spirit, we need to take a step. It doesn't need to be a full-blown jump- just a single step to ignite a flame…. A step is powerful; it can plant a seed the size of a mustard seed. And that same mustard seed can move a mountain, further his kingdom, and glorify his purpose.” Don’t deny the gift in you any longer. Take the first step towards walking in your truth and He will be right there to support you.
Reflection from Habits of Gratitude
As we continue with “Habits of Gratitude” today’s message begins by saying, “1 Samuel 8 teaches us that desires must be submitted to God’s Word rather than cause resistance to God’s Word. Wanting what God hasn’t given us can be dangerous. And demanding what God withholds or warns against is a recipe for disaster.” We all want what we want and don’t like to wait, but we must realize that when we walk with Christ, the wait is necessary. He knows what’s best for us, and will never allow anything less than the best. So trust in Him and wait well, and discover He has more than you could ever imagine in store.
