The Gift of Solitude
Today’s message by Kundtz begins, “Being comfortable with aloneness is the gift of solitude. It also includes the gift of introspection, which is the ability to look into yourself… time alone is essential to a balanced life.” There was a time in life that I never wanted to be alone, and then life happened, and I realized it was necessary to be alone. As mentioned in the message aloneness (or solitude) and loneliness can be confused. As Kundtz writes, “Often the difference between solitude and loneliness is friendship with yourself.” As we grow many of us tend to focus on others and not ourselves. As kids, many of us had imaginary friends. To be able to create such, we had to know ourselves. As adults, we need to be able to know ourselves. We lose sight of who we are for the relationships we develop, yet the most important one should be with ourselves. I’m so grateful that life happened and I was in a way forced into a season of solitude. Since that time, I seek out opportunities for stopping and being and reflecting to be the best me.
Mark 1:35 reads, “In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed.”
Like Jesus, let us always seek time in solitude to pray and be in tune to who we are and what He is speaking to us.
Small Straws Scripture: Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Let us not become distracted by the enemy and the ways of the world, but let us remain focused in our faith, seeking the Father to lead and guide us each step of the way.
Youversion Verse of the Day: Romans 10:13
For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Whether vocally or internally within, call out to Him, for He is your forever friend who in all things we can depend.
Keep focus on you and He will always see you through, my friend.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
