Daily Devotional for October 23, 2020
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
I was just telling my hairstylist last night how I tell my coaching clients “change your mind, change your life”. Things that sound so simple, though, can BE so hard. We have heard things, experiences things, and BElieved things for so long that we feel and think, “Well, I guess this is the way that things are supposed to be.” I’m here to tell you that is not the case when we walk with and trust our Father. Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” and today’s devotional is supported by Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2). You are the only one who must BElieve in you for you are the one who has to live with you and answer to Him. God has placed something special and unique in each of us. He has a purpose and a plan for our lives. Do not jeopardize your passion and purpose and most importantly His will for you by BEing concerned with what you are doing that may not look right from the perspective of others or may make others uncomfortable. What’s for you is for you. In the words of Dr. Seuss, “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” Continuing with words of wisdom from Seuss, “Be who you are and say what you mean. Because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.“ Again, today is a new day with new beginnings, new blessings, new mercies, and new opportunities—it’s your time.
Ephesians 2
I cannot speak for you, but as written in Ephesians 2, I was dead in my transgressions and sins, in which I used to live...But because of his great love for me, God, who is rich in mercy, made me alive with Christ even when I was dead in transgressions—it is by grace I have been saved (Ephesians 2:1-2, 4-5). He is willing and able to do the same for you.
In today’s devotional from Taurean Wells, he REminds us that we all will fail. Wells shares, “As a matter of fact, there’s a long list of people (in the Bible) who demonstrate that if you haven't failed yet, you will.” As I told my stylist last night, people don’t fear failure, they fear success. We have encountered disappointments in our lives and we tend to dwell on them because of the way they make us feel, and we work to avoid those feelings again. Instead we should BE working to find the blessings or lessons from those experiences, and in God’s words, allow Him to work them for our good. Don’t let failure, hurt, or defeat BEcome and obstacle to your destiny. Let go and let God help you overcome them and take you into your season of overflow.
Mark 8:34
May we not block our blessings to BEcome all He has planned for us by letting our flesh get in the way—concerned with what others may think or say above and beyond our heart and mind’s desires. Let us deny ourselves and follow Him to REceive all that He desires to give us. 🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
Follow in faith, not fear nor failure this Friday, my friend.
