Daily Devotional for July 8, 2021

“But you, God, shield me on all sides; You ground my feet, you lift my head high.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭3:3

Hezekiah Walker has a song which the lyrics say, “To be like Jesus, to be like Jesus. That’s all I want, all I want is to be like Him. All of life’s journey to earth and glory. That’s all I want, all I want is to be like Him.” Those words immediately came to mind after REading Osteen’s message this morning. Continuing with the focus on Mephibosheth, Osteen encourages us to BE compassionate towards others. Many have good intentions, but sometimes what they’ve BEen T.H.R.O.U.G.H. (Trials, Hurt, Regrets, Obstacles, Uncertainty, Guilt, Heartbreak) may have brought harm to us. He says, “They weren’t bad people, their hearts were for us, but they dropped us.” From this my mind then goes to what Jesus said on the cross as He died for our sins: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). In the same manner, let us learn and grow to freely forgive.

Genesis 35

As with Jacob in Genesis 35:1, sometimes God will REturn us to a place where He revealed himself to us when we were once running for our lives to help us to REalize our growth and how far He has brought us along our glorious adventure, and to see that we are no longer who we once were.

REflection from When God Speaks What to Expect

Today we BEgin a short series by Femi Monehin, “When God Speaks What to Expect”. Many people wonder if God truly speaks to us, but I wonder if we are truly listening and BEing obedient. Sometimes BEing obedient may not look right or feel right, but it’s God. Today’s devotional says, “We all need to develop an appetite for hearing God’s voice. However, to recognize God’s voice and be led by God’s Spirit, we must take the posture of obedience that we see in 1 Samuel 3:1-14.” It’s also REminds us that if we are obedient, He will supply all of our needs. It is written in Psalm 23:1, but our obedience determines if we prosper or if we live in scarcity and lack.

Isaiah 12:2

Whom shall we fear? We have the ultimate protector who’s omnipresent. 🙏🏽💚🦋🌈

Tread through this Thursday, my friend.
