Seek for Yourself the Soul Stirring Goodness of the Savior

“You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth. You will restore me to even greater honor and comfort me once again.” Psalms 71:20-21

Yesterday evening and into the night, I spent time engaging in conversation with my president and dear colleague, discussing life, education, careers, and purpose. My president spoke about working with an organization, leaving, and then taking a sabbatical. She spoke about how important it is to do so in our careers. I said that is something I would love to do. She continued to REinforce the importance of taking a break. The thought came to my mind of how could I ever take a break? What about paying bills and taking care of my family? Then she continued to speak about the importance of REst. At that time I thought about how God says in Matthew 11:28-29, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” She then BEgan to share that when she was REsting, she was REcruited. That made me think of walking in faith, and how God will supply all our needs if we trust His will and way.

This morning Osteen speaks about Steve Jobs. Though forced out of his job, in that time away he created something that his former company needed, and they brought him back. Jobs said, “Getting fired was the best thing that could have happened to me…. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.” Today’s devotional by Osteen lifts up Psalms 71:20-21, “You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth. You will restore me to even greater honor and comfort me once again.”

‭‭Taking a break or separation from something or someone, though uncomfortable and sometimes hurtful, allows us to process and go T.H.R.O.U.G.H. (Trials, Hurt, Regrets, Obstacles, Uncertainty, Guilt, Heartbreak) for yet another breakthrough. Let us trust God’s process and embrace the glorious adventure He’s navigating us through each day, truly living in the moment with no REgrets.

Numbers 16

As Moses encouraged the people in Numbers 16, may we get away from those who mean to bring harm to us so that we, too, are not harmed for others’ doing.

REflection from Promises for Your Everyday Life

Grace has been a word that I use daily (and multiple times at that) since the pandemic. This morning Joyce Meyer’s devotional focuses on grace, which she defines as “God's power to help us do whatever it is we need to do.” Not only should we work to give others grace, but most importantly, we must give ourselves grace. Let us seek God in all things, no matter how large or small, nor significant or as insignificant we may think, to allow us to do what we need to do for ourselves. Feel what you need to feel, do what you need to do, and BE who you need to BE. Let’s all consider the prayer starter from Meyer today, which says: “God, I know that life won't always go the way I want it to, but I trust in You. By faith, I receive Your grace, the power You have freely given to help me walk through any situation I face today.” Grace and peace BE unto you this day and each day my siSTAR, my brother.🙏🏽
