Jump at the Sun

Zora Neale Hurston is highlighted this morning by Kundtz. The quote reads, “Mama exhorted her children at every opportunity to ‘jump at the sun.’ We might not land on the sun, but at least we would get off the ground.” Kundtz follows with a statement about his appreciation of a mother's effort to get her kids to become self-fulfilled….Taken figuratively, the words seem to imply that the feeling of deepest passion and its achievement always involve suffering, an insight wise mothers know from lived experience.” A mother’s love and encouragement is the fuel many of us need to continue to push forward in life, whether as children or adults, truly realizing our capabilities. Yet mothers also provide us with reality and cautionary measures for us to consider, with their knowledge that obstacles and setbacks may come our way, yet we should still strive beyond what we can see our imagine.

Jeremiah 29:11, says, “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” There are plans for our lives. Though situations may arise where we don’t understand the setbacks and pain, it is all preparing us for greater and for our purpose in each season.

No matter what we go through, and especially during our darkest hours, our Father is with us.

May we always cast our cares and our anxiety upon the Lord, for we don’t have to worry about anything we allow Him control of in this life.
