Daily Devotional for August 22, 2020
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.” Proverbs 3:3-4
Joel Osteen’s devotional this morning made me REflect upon one of the most challenging times I accepted from myself in life when I vowed to sing at my father’s funeral. When our family had the initial meeting with REpresentatives from the church and they asked what songs the family had selected and who would sing, the looks communicated and even words spoken were not in support of me doing it. From that moment I BEgan to pray to our Heavenly Father, BEcause this was something I had to do. This would BE the final time that I would BE able to sing for my father here on earth and in our church. It had been so long since he had the opportunity to do so. I felt it was my charge to keep. As Osteen said this morning, “I BElieve God was saying, ‘If you’ll dare to stay in the game, if you’ll dare to play with pain, I’ll breathe favor over your life.’”
It was an out of body experience for me, but according to others in attendance my voice was as melodious, powerful and unwavering and strong. That was truly God’s favor upon me. May we REmain faithful that even through the most difficult times in our lives, God will love the hurt away and give us a strength that surpasses all understanding.
Job 32
May we strive to understand the Word and get to know our Father for ourselves, for as spoken in Job 32:9, “Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.” We must get to know Him as our personal Lord and Savior, because on that judgment day we shall stand alone without anyone else to speak for us.
May we live in the moment with no REgrets. May we share of our time, talents, and treasures as we go along each day, for the Lord loves a cheerful giver. Have a giving spirit, for if you give it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over (Luke 6:38).
Matthew 23:11
As we grow, develop and are promoted along life’s JOurneY of glorious adventure may we always lead with a servants heart, for “The only time that you should look down on a man is when you’re picking him up.” (The Jackson Southernaires) 🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
