Daily Devotional for September 30, 2020

“But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭50:19-20‬

I was speaking to a client last night and I said something to the fact that, we are all deserving of love; we just don’t always know where it’s going to come from. This morning Joel Osteen focuses on storms in life and how difficult situations in (wo)man’s eyes may seem like things will end in defeat or bring some type of hurt, harm, or danger. Yet with God, as a Kirk Franklin song says, “There’s a blessing in the storm.” The associated scripture says, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good” (Genesis 50:20). Let us not allow what may look like a difficulty or hardship block us from what might BE orchestrated to BE a blessing in disguise. God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, and neither are His ways our ways (Isaiah 55:8). Many launch businesses from layoffs and others find their forever love after divorce. Trust His process and His direction, and just as importantly, His seasons for your life.

Deuteronomy 17

May we learn to fear the Lord our God, to keep all the words of the law and statutes, to do them...that may prolong our days (Deuteronomy‬ ‭17:19-20‬), for even in a storm He and His words will never steer us wrong.

Some may have wondered why I capitalize RE- in words as I write my daily devotionals. Well, today’s message from Mark Batterson’s “Double Blessings” helps to explain. Batterson says, “The writer of Lamentations said that God’s mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22–23). The Hebrew word for ‘new’ doesn’t just mean ‘again and again.’ It means ‘different.’” The prefix RE- does mean again, and with our lives each morning He breathes breath in our bodies; He REnews our lives. That means He is giving us not only an opportunity to BEgin again, but He’s also giving us a new and different BEginning and opportunity.

Batterson goes further to say, “In other words, today’s mercy is different from yesterday’s mercy, which is different from the mercy of the day before that.” That only gives us a hint of how merciful our Father has been and continues to BE in our lives. The author goes even further to REmind us that, “The significance of that is this: no one can worship God like you or for you...God’s blessings are uniquely fitted to us.” For as I said to my client last night, no one knows your story but you, and every opportunity we get, we shall seek to give Him all the glory, honor, and praise for His grace and mercy that has kept us and brought us through.

2 Peter 1:3

If He’s done it before, He will do it again. We can always trust in His words, His ways, and our experiences with Him in our lives. He has and shall always supply our needs. He is the Living Water, the Well that never runs dry. 🙏🏽💚🦋🌈

Won’t He do it this Wednesday? Wait and watch Him work, my friend.
