Daily Devotional for October 1, 2020
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
On this first day of October, Osteen’s devotional continues to speak about storms. Without rain seeds planted cannot grow, and sometimes things buried must be saturated in order for moisture to get down to certain levels. When we think of storms, we think of dark clouds, raging winds, flashing lightning, torrential rain and flooding. And even when the storms of life BEgin to rage in our lives, we can trust and BElieve more lyrics from Kirk Franklin this morning: “...I've been through the flood. I've been broken into pieces, Seen lightnin' flashin' from above. But through it all I remember That He loves me And He cares And He'll never put more on me Than I can bear...” Every test, trial, and storm comes to strengthen and prepare us for what’s to come in our lives. He’ll never take us to something that He won’t bring us through.
Deuteronomy 18
As we pray and God delivers, we must not turn back to our former. As in Deuteronomy 18, “When we enter the land the Lord our God is giving us, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of others...for He will call to account anyone who does not listen to His words…” (Deuteronomy 18:9, 19). When we are in Christ, we are new creatures; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). As with yesterday’s devotional, we are REnewed by Christ. When we REceive His blessings, we are provided again a new and different opportunity to experience life with Him.
Mark Batterson ends his series this morning REminding us that “Blessing is yours for the asking, but the only way to keep it is to give it away.” As the scripture says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7). However, we must REmember we are blessed to be a blessing, therefore when we give, it shall be given unto us...running over (Luke 6:38). A circle is unending; may our giving and receiving be the same, my circle maker* friend.
