Daily Devotional for May 5, 2021
So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine. 1 Samuel 17:50
This morning Osteen talks about how God uses our enemies to bless us. As with David, had it not BEen for Goliath, Osteen says, “What may look like a setback is really a setup to get you to your throne.” As I continue to REceive messages to congratulate me for my appointment, I REflect on those individuals who blatantly said I wasn’t qualified and the adversity I had to persevere through personally and professionally. Yet now, as I sit on the other side I see how it was a setup to get me where I am today. In Osteen’s words, “What you think is a disappointment someone has caused...you may not like it, but you couldn’t reach your destiny without it.”
Luke 23
As we JOurneY in life and come against those who are against us that call us out of our names and speak negatively against us, may we BE like our Savior and cry out like Him in Luke 22:34 saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”
REflection from The Confident Woman
In today’s devotional from “The Confident Woman”, Joyce Meyers says, “Oh, how much better life would be if we all took time to think about what we are about to do before we do it.” Sometimes friends question me why it takes so long for me to make a decision, but just as Meyers speaks to in this devotional, emotions are fickle and ever changing...and we have to REmember to think before we act. I no longer live with REgrets, but I didn’t get this way overnight. Through prayer and truly waiting on the Lord, I know He will always direct my path and work everything for my good. As Shirley Caesar’s song says, “Keep patiently waiting for I know He’ll bring you out.”
