Daily Devotional for October 25, 2020

“Do you see those who are skillful in their work? they will serve kings; they will not serve common people.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22:29‬ ‭

Again last night I was working on edits for my book, and there was a part that I was speaking to about how I was referred to as perfect. In this life I have not tried to be perfect, but I have worked to be the BEst that I can BE at everything I do. Additionally, I try not to settle; I’m always looking for opportunities to get better and do better, and as today’s devotional focuses on, to go from good to great. As Joel Osteen states this morning (and Jim Collins from his book “Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap...and Others Don’t”), “Good is the enemy of great.” God doesn’t want us to settle in life. He has more and more in store for our lives. As Collins says in his book, “Letting the wrong people hang around is unfair . . . (we) inevitably find ourselves compensating for the inadequacies of the wrong people. . .and when we see our efforts impeded by carrying extra weight, we eventually become frustrated.” As you continue to walk along this JOurneY, be careful of the company you keep, whether, friends, family, coworkers, or foes. REmain forward, focused, and following in faith (and not fear) and favor for where you are now, your BEst is still yet to come, for eye has not seen nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Ephesians 4

We are here to support one another in unity in the body of Christ. As Ephesians 4 speaks to: “Each of us was given grace according to the measure of Christ's gift. . .The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers. . .(v.7; 11). We all have different gifts within that He has especially equipped us with to use and share. As the scripture continues, “But (we must) speak the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ. . . We were taught to put away our former way of life, our old self . . . and to be renewed in the spirit of our minds . . . and let all of us speak the truth to our neighbors, for we are members of one another” (15, 22-25‬).

As we continue to strive towards greatness and all God has in store, let us BE mindful of our weaknesses but not let them hinder us. Moreover, let us BE cognizant of our strengths, and like Peter, learn how to guard them, for as Taurean Wells REminds us, “An unguarded strength is a double weakness. Nothing can get you into more trouble than your strengths”. Let us not take them for granted nor use them to take advantage of others. Let us REmain humble and BE used for His works here on earth.

Proverbs 11:25

Whatever we give willingly to others will BE REturned to us. We truly REap whatever we sow, no matter how big or small, or freely or grudgingly. 🙏🏽💚🦋🌈

Seek to BE the servant leader through the strengths the Savior has instilled in you this Sunday, my friend.
