Daily Devotional for September 15, 2021
“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.”
James 1:6 NKJV
Have you drifted? Sometimes we get distracted from day to day life situations, and we need to take the time to put our anchor back down. Osteen says, “To drift doesn’t require a major sickness or a divorce; just everyday life will do it.” I have felt myself drifting and I decided to take a day just for me. God knew I needed this message this morning to keep me focused on the why. Today I will REposition my anchor, working to REmain forward, focused, and following in faith (and not fear) and favor. However, the emphasis is on my focus, for I must REmember the vision and REdirect to see it through.
James 3
Not only is it important for us to take time to REposition our anchor, but we must always seek peace and wisdom as discussed in James 3:17-18. “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” Let us seek peace and not end up in pieces with distractions and dangerous discourse from the world.
REflection from Work and Rest
The final message from the devotional series “Work and Rest” begins highlighting Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” It is important for us to REst. The text says, “But it is not the tasks themselves that burden us. It is the ‘eternal inner murmur of self-reproach.’ It is the voice whispering repeatedly, ‘You are not good enough’.” I encourage you my friend, to take time to REst and REflect on your accomplishments and not the work. Celebrate you—celebrate your successes, no matter how small or large. For you are, have BEen, and always will BE good enough in our Father’s eyes.
Psalms 85:2
Whatever we need is already done in Christ. As with forgiveness, Psalms 85:2 emphasizes the tense, forgave. My brother and siSTAR, it’s already done.🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
When we’re weary we don’t have to worry; we must REst and worship, my friend.
