Daily Devotional for October 14, 2020
“‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.” Exodus 19:4
If we have not learned up to this point that storms will rise and adversity will come up against us in this life, but God will see us T.H.R.O.U.G.H., then we are just choosing not to understand. I do feel that it has BEen important and intentional for Osteen to continuously REmind us of this for habits are formed through REpetition. For so long we have looked at storms as these dark times of downpour and winds, working to figure out how we will rush through the weather instead of letting go and letting God lift us higher and higher with outstretched arms as eagles to soar above in Him, as shared by Osteen. Storms are growth opportunities. We shall no longer let the storm dampen our spirits, but trust our Father to lift us like eagles and literally overcome the storm.
Deuteronomy 31
As we deal with storms in our lives, Deuteronomy 31:6 encourages us to “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6) That’s all the confirmation we need to REmain forward, focused and following in faith (and not fear) and favor to trust our way through.
Tony Evans’ final day in the series Jehovah Shalom highlights John 14:27, which reads, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful” (John 14:27). Evans REminds us that we are protected but will not BE prevented from encountering storms. We will, in fact, face troubles or tribulation but that we will know peace in the midst of turmoil because God is with us. “In obedience, we will trust God even in the midst of our turmoil, and we will learn to call Him Jehovah Shalom”, speaks Evans. And as in Philippians 4:7, we will find that the peace of God that surpasses all comprehension will guard our hearts and minds through Jesus.
Matthew 6:7
When we pray, let us REmember that God knows all about us, even BEfore we utter a word. May we not BE afraid to speak freely our most intimate thoughts to Him, living in the moment with no REgrets to ask what we need and desire for each opportunity affords us new blessings. 🙏🏽💚🦋🌈
Wings like eagles this Wednesday, not weight from worry, my friend.
