Daily Devotional for October 8, 2020

“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” ‭‭Daniel‬ ‭3:17-18‬

I’ve heard the phrase “double for your trouble” as it RElates to Isaiah 61:7-8, but this morning I have developed a new perspective or meaning for the phrase based on faith as discussed by Joel Osteen. He mentions in this morning’s text that there are two kinds of faith. “Delivering faith is when God keeps you from the fire, out of the adversity...Sustaining faith is when God takes you through the storm, through the difficulty, and the wind is blowing.” God truly is in the giving business even through trials and triumphs. He gives us both types of faith, double for our trouble, to keep us and work even the most difficult of situations for our good. We may BE tried in the fire, but we’re coming out gold—REfined and better than BEfore.

Deuteronomy 25

Let us strive to always use full and honest measures so that we may enjoy a long life that God is giving us, for all who cheat with dishonest weights and measures are detestable to the Lord our God. (Deuteronomy‬ ‭25:14-16‬) .

Tony Evans’ series, “The Burden of Affliction”, REminds us as BElievers of Christ we will BE tried. As Evans puts it, “It would be nice to be able to say to all believers that life in Christ is a life free of affliction and pain.” However, there is always comfort and conformation found in the Word for BElievers. So, I have taken some texts from 2 Corinthians, as highlighted by Evans and put it in the present for us to REst assured with, for if He did it BEfore, He will do it again. “When we are crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we think we will never live through something; in fact, we expect to die. But as a result, we must stop relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:8-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Isaiah 54:17

Neither weapons nor words will waiver or withhold what God has prepared and planned for our lives. 🙏🏽💚🦋🌈

Thank Him even for your trials and tribulations this Thursday, my friend.
