Daily Devotional for August 26, 2020

“As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.” ‭‭James‬ ‭5:11‬ ‭

This morning’s devotional choked me up a bit. It made me REflect on my own life and the glory God has brought me after staying in the game. Three years ago I hit my rock bottom, unsure of what the future would hold, but I knew I could depend on God. I stayed in the game, continued to go about my life each day, not letting on to what was going on, many times wearing “the mask” to cover the pain inside. Yet God had a plan for me, and I’m so grateful to have persevered and stayed in the game, for He has blessed me exceedingly abundantly more than I could ever ask or think. In this season, I’m so grateful to have God’s attention, but more importantly, I’m glad that He has a plan for my life.

Job 36

Job 36 REminds us that God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom. If we obey and serve our Father, we shall spend our days in prosperity and years in pleasures...He sees all our work, and transgressions that we have exceeded...and if we continue to obey and serve Him, we shall spend our days in prosperity, and our years in pleasures. (Job 36:5,9,11).

‭‭

...and yet another opportunity to REflect on where God has brought me from when I finally chose to allow Him to direct my path. Bayless Conley’s devotional this morning focuses on Mark 10:21 where one was told by Jesus, “One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.” ‭‭(Mark‬ ‭10:21‬). This also made me think of the scripture Mark 8:36, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Sometimes we truly have to lose and let go to win. When I chose to let go of many of my earthly possessions, my life forever changed. I am now living my latter which is greater and I know that my best is still yet to come.

Jeremiah 31:25

Our Father can and will quench every thirst and wash away the sorrow and pain that tries to deplete our spirits. 🙏🏽💚🦋🌈

Won’t He do it?! Yes, He will, if we just wait on His will and His way, this Wednesday, my friend.
