Today is the day that He’s making a way
“I call to you, God, and you answer me. Listen to me now, and hear what I say.” Psalm 17:6
Psalm 17:6 is highlighted this morning with the daily devotional from “Strength for Women”. It says, “I call to you, God, and you answer me. Listen to me now, and hear what I say.” The message this morning says is titled “Just Ask”, and part of the passage REads, “God's Word encourages us again and again to come to him with our questions, concerns, and deepest longings. He does promise a reply, though not necessarily in the form of a check in a box.” There’s two things from this that made me think of childhood. 1) I heard to never question God; and 2) as mentioned by the writer, when you liked someone you wrote a little letter and said check the box. Let us focus on perspective this morning. If we don’t ask, how do we learn and REceive? Secondly, I have truly learned when you ask, He will not necessarily REspond in a way we expect. BE open to REceive in unexpected ways and through unexpected people. Talk to Him; He’s waiting and listening.
Matthew 20
Let us REmember the importance of service in
this life, for as written in Matthew 20:26, “‘…whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’”
Reflection from Hello Beautiful by Kara Barker
Kara Barker’s message from “Hello Beautiful “ this day is called “You Have Been Called and Equipped by God”, and we have. She says, “You may have heard the phrase ‘God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called.’ You weren’t called to juggle everything in your own strength.” She goes further saying, “God will never call us into something for which He hasn’t already prepared and equipped us. He never leads us into a battle that He isn’t ready to dress us for accordingly. He never demands something of us without already considering how He will cover for our insufficiencies.” As we do the work though, we must REmember that we cannot go at it be alone nor lean on our own understanding. As the message today REminds us, “Often, we think we know our capabilities and capacities, but God loves to stretch us beyond what we think is possible because it also stretches our faith during the process.“
This made me think about a conversation I had with one of my siSTARS yesterday who questioned her leadership BEcause people were leaving the organization. As with her, let us REmember as written in the text today, “Often, we think we know our capabilities and capacities, but God loves to stretch us beyond what we think is possible because it also stretches our faith during the process.“ To some it may look bad that individuals are leaving, but to others it is only the shifting that is allowing new opportunities and new BEginnings for what the Father wants to do with willing vessels under her supervision. When things get difficult, don’t REact out of frustration, but REspond out of faith.
Matthew 6:34
Let us appreciate each moment of this day and not let thoughts of what might come tomorrow pass up opportunities for us today.
Today is the day that He’s making a way, my friend.
