Daily Devotional for August 17, 2020

“In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly… “Eli answered, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.” Samuel‬ ‭1:11,17

As I was experiencing the lowest points in my life I heard the saying “hurt people hurt people” many times. That may have given an excuse for others, but I didn’t want that to BE said of me. So, as I strengthened my RElationship with Christ, I wanted to BE more like Him, so I took on more of a mantra of “heal through your hurt”. I didn’t like feeling down and angry, so I had to figure out a way to lift my own spirit, and what better way than to use my life to pour into others. Whether it was doing things in service or telling of my experiences, I BEgan (well actually continued more intentionally) to pour into others. As the scripture says, Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." (Luke 6:38)

BEcause of my gratitude instead of my attitude, as Osteen speaks to this morning, God turned my scars into stars. What was meant for my harm He worked for my good. My latter has truly BEen greater and I know my BEst is yet to come. I have a new home, increase in salary, I’m able to pay my tithes every month and above from the business He allowed me to build with multiple components, written a book, but most importantly I have BEen REstored and live in peace. There’s no secret to what God can do.

Job 27

As we go about this day, and particularly parents preparing their children for the first day of school, may we ourselves (and encourage our children) “...not deny our integrity...and may we “teach others about the power of God; the ways of the Almighty let us not conceal.” (Job 27:5,11)

The devotional from The Navigators this morning encourages us to REflect and look back at what has gone on in our lives BEfore. The key, though, is to look—take a glimpse, but never to REturn. May we think on the lessons or blessings REceived but REmain forward, focused and following in faith (and not fear) and favor towards what God has in store for our lives.

James 1:2-3
